Gerald Grünert

Gerald Grünert (born January 15, 1956 in Burg (near Magdeburg) ) is a German politician of the party Die Linke and former member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

Gerald Grünert attended the polytechnic high school until 1972 and finished his training as a mechanical engineer in 1974 . From 1974 to 1977 he graduated from the officers' college of the land forces "Ernst Thälmann" and graduated as an engineer for mechanical and apparatus engineering. From 1977 to 1987 he was a senior member of the council for the district of Magdeburg .

Gerald Grünert has three children.

Politics / party

Grünert had been a member of the SED since 1975 . Within his party, in addition to taking on several honorary posts, he was a member of the federal working group on local politics since 1990, from 1993 to 1995 a member of the PDS state executive and from 1995 to 2007 a member of the party council.

At the local political level, he has been a member of the city council of the state capital Magdeburg since 1994 .

MP

From 2002 to 2016, Grünert was an elected member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt via the state list . He sat for his group on the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on Petitions, among others .
