Gerald Kegelmann

Gerald Kegelmann (born May 4, 1934 in Heidelberg ) is a German choir conductor and music teacher.

Life

Kegelmann studied school and church music as well as German literature at the Musikhochschule and the University of Heidelberg. From 1975 to 2000 he was professor for choir conducting and choir education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim , whose rector he was from 1986 to 1997. In 1971 he founded the Heidelberg Madrigal Choir , which he directed until 2004. With the choir he brought u. a. Works by Myriam Marbe , Cláudio Santoro , Hans Vogt and Violeta Dinescu for the premiere. Concert tours with various choirs have taken him to Italy, Ireland, France, Spain, Austria, Canada, Russia and the USA. As a guest lecturer and conductor he worked a. a. in Brazil, Portugal, Hungary and Russia. Gerald Kegelmann is also the artistic director of the Summer Academy for Young Artists at the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf.
