Hans Vogt (composer, 1911)
Hans Vogt (born May 14, 1911 in Danzig ; † May 19, 1992 in Metterich , Eifel ) was a German composer.
Life
Vogt studied from 1929 to 1934 at the Academy of Arts in Berlin with Georg Schumann and Otto Frickhoeffer . In 1934 he worked as a pianist, cellist and conductor in Minden . From 1935 he was Kapellmeister at the Stadttheater Bielefeld and then in Detmold . In 1937 he joined the NSDAP (No. 5.653.178). From 1938 to 1944 he was first Kapellmeister at the Stralsund Theater , and then city music director in Stralsund , where he had also been chairman of the Reich Theater Chamber from 1938 .
In the post-war period, Vogt lived as a freelance composer in Neckargemünd from 1949 . From 1951 to 1978 Vogt directed a composition class at the Mannheim-Heidelberg University of Music . In 1971 he was appointed professor.
Vogt composed two operas ("The City Behind the Stream" based on the novel by Hermann Kasack and "Athenerkomödie" by Christopher Middleton based on a fragment by Menander), a symphony , two orchestral concerts, two piano concerts, one each for violin and violoncello and one Concert for viola and chamber orchestra, chamber music works, an oratorio , a passion music , a cantata , a magnificat , a requiem , choral music and songs .
