Gerald Tychtl

Gerald Tychtl (born January 23, 1941 in Anger ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Tychtl was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1981 to 1999 .

education and profession

Tychtl attended elementary school between 1947 and 1951 and then secondary school until 1955. He then joined Elin-Union AG for the electrical industry in 1956 and trained as a machine fitter by 1960. Tychtl did military service between 1960 and 1961 and also attended the foremen's school for workers specializing in mechanical engineering between 1966 and 1970. Furthermore, from 1970 to 1974 he graduated from the Higher Federal Teaching and Research Institute for Working People in Graz-Gösting (specializing in mechanical engineering) and was subsequently awarded the title of "Engineer".

politics

Tychtl was active in the young generation at the beginning of his political career and was a member of the State Executive Committee of the Young Generation Styria from 1975 to 1980. In addition, during this period he was a member of the state party presidium of the SPÖ Styria. In 1978 Tychtl was elected deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ Weiz and in 1981 changed to the position of district party chairman. From 1982 he was also a member of the city council of Weiz. Tychtl represented the SPÖ between December 1, 1981 and October 28, 1999 in the National Council. Until 2002, Tychtl was also the chairman of the Armed Forces Complaints Commission.
