Gérard Carbonara

Gérard Carbonara (born December 8, 1886 , New York City , USA ; † January 11, 1959 in Sherman Oaks , California , USA) was an American musician and film composer.

Life

Carbonara began his film music career at the end of the silent film era. In the 1930s and 1940s he was involved in numerous film scores, including the one for the western classic Ringo by director John Ford . However, he was not one of the Oscar winners. In the 1940s, especially after the Second World War, he was primarily involved in short films. Carbonara often worked closely with his colleague John Leipold . In 1944 he was nominated for an Oscar for his work on The Sheriff of Kansas .
