Gerard Fleischeuer
Adele Jan Gerard Fleischeuer (born February 25, 1889 in Oirsbeek , Netherlands , † March 29, 1945 in Dachau ) was town clerk in the former Dutch municipality of Oirsbeek, which was incorporated into Schinnen in 1982 . He was a member of the St. Lambertus Rifle Society.
During the Second World War he hid persecuted Jews in his house . Presumably as a result of treason, ten of these Jews were arrested and taken away by the SS on November 6, 1943 . Fleischeuer was also arrested. He died in Dachau concentration camp a month before it was liberated . Nothing is known about the whereabouts of the Jews who were arrested at the same time.
In 1990 Fleischeuer was posthumously honored as Righteous Among the Nations . A street is named after him in his former home town of Oirsbeek.
