Legends

There are many stories about the name Schinnen. The old Roman name of Schinnen is said to be "Sunici". But there is also a myth that Emperor Charlemagne lost his bearings on one of his trips. Suddenly he saw a light shining (shimmering) and shimmering ( shimmering ) far away . As a thank you for finding the way again, Charlemagne wanted to build a chapel in the place where he saw both lights.
