Gerardo Amato

Gerardo Amato ; actually Gerardo Placido (born August 12, 1952 in Ascoli Satriano ) is an Italian actor .

Life

Amato went to Milan at a young age and trained as an electrical engineer. Because of his appearance, which predestined him for roles as a Latin lover , he was able to gain a foothold in the theater; initially, from 1975, with the troupe around Ernesto Calindri and Adolfo Perani and with Enrico Maria Salerno as well as under directors such as Giancarlo Menotti and Giorgio Strehler . Occasionally Amato also played in films and for television plays, but mostly secondary roles. Since the new millennium, Amato has increased its commitment to television and cinema considerably.

Amato is the brother of the actor Michele Placido .
