Enrico Maria Salerno
Enrico Maria Salerno (born September 18, 1926 in Milan , † February 28, 1994 in Rome ) was an Italian actor and film director .
Life
Salerno came to Rome with his family as a child. In 1949 he was part of an acting troupe for the first time and until 1952 also played at the "Piccoli Teatri" in Milan and Rome. From 1954/1955 he appeared in the Teatro Stabile in Genoa, three years later Salerno celebrated one of his greatest stage successes with “Il diavolo Peter” by Salvato Capelli . The first major film role followed in 1959; on screen, he brought his skills to work in numerous genre reproductions as well as works of importance.
In 1960 Salerno founded “La Compagnia degli Attori Associati” with Giancarlo Sbragia and Ivo Garrani , which, in addition to productions, also took care of actors' social issues. The “Società Attori Italiani”, which he co-founded in the same year, was also professionally active. His stage roles remained numerous and full of success; he is described as the "most complete" actor who was as talented as he was bizarre. From 1964 Salerno was the Italian dubbing voice of Clint Eastwood in Sergio Leone's Dollars trilogy films and that of Jesus Christ in the film Il vangelo secondo Matteo ( The 1st Gospel - Matthew ) directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini .
In the following years Salerno played parallel for the film, where he was only obliged to shoot during the day, and on stage. From the mid-1980s, television was also among his employers. Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman was his last self-directed role in 1993.
Salerno was awarded a special David di Donatello for his first director Anonimo veneziano ; in 1961 he had already received a Nastro d'Argento for his interpretation of La lunga notte del'43 .
