Gerd Ehinger (born October 7, 1941 in Berlin ) is a former employee of NASA and later honorary professor at the Technical University of Berlin in the field of systems theory and methods of systems analysis .

biography

Ehinger attended the 4th elementary school in Berlin-Spandau from 1947 to 1953 . From 1953 to 1960 he was a student at the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Oberschule in Berlin-Spandau, where he passed the Abitur in March 1960. From March to October 1960 he did an internship at Borsig AG in Berlin-Tegel .

Ehinger studied aeronautical engineering from October 1960 to July 1966 at the Technical University in Berlin , specializing in aircraft engines. From September 1966 to June 1967 he studied systems engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta , Georgia , specializing in systems engineering. For this he had received a grant from the World Student Fund.

From July 1967 to September 1967, Ehinger worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Marietta, Georgia, in the Systems Design department. From October 1967 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Space Technology at the Technical University of Berlin.

Ehinger initially worked in the field of space research , with a focus on space technology , and wrote some scientific papers on it. In 1972 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin on the design optimization of spacecraft with low thrust acceleration as a Dr.-Ing.

From the mid-1970s onwards, he also turned to questions of system technology or system analysis and the topic of programming languages.

In 1986 he was appointed honorary professor at the TU Berlin and passed in 2002 on his own request.
