Gerd H. Padel
Gerd Hellmut Padel (born October 3, 1921 in Zurich ; † January 7, 2010 in Zollikerberg ) was a Swiss journalist .
Life
Padel studied languages and history and worked as a freelance journalist during his studies. He received his doctorate in 1951 from the University of Zurich on "The political press in German-speaking Switzerland and the rise of the Third Reich 1933–1939" . Padel worked for SRG from 1956 to 1978 , initially as director of Schweizer Radio International . From 1965 he was director of the Zurich radio studio and from 1972 director of Schweizer Radio DRS . From 1974 to 1978 he was the first regional director for radio and television in German and Romansh Switzerland. From 1978 to 1983 he was editor-in-chief of the Basler Zeitung, which was merged in 1977 .
