Gerd Janne Kristoffersen (born November 18, 1952 in Verdal , Trøndelag ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was mayor of Verdal from 1999 to 2005 and from 2005 to 2013 a member of parliament from Nord-Trøndelag in Storting . Later she was the assistant Fylkesmann or Fylkesmann in Nord-Trøndelag before the office was abolished at the turn of 2017/2018. She then served as Trøndelag's assistant manager until October 2019.

Career

Kristoffersen was trained at the Innherred Nursing College from 1974 and then studied management and education. She initially worked as a nurse, specialist teacher and senior nurse, mostly at the Innherred Hospital ( Stavanger ).

She was a member of the Verdal municipal council from 1991 to 1995, of the Fylkesting of Nord-Trøndelag from 1995 to 1999 and then from 1999 to 2005 mayor of Verdal. In addition, from 1997 to 1999 she was deputy chairwoman of Nord-Trøndelag Arbeiderparti and a member of the regional board of the Arbeiderpartiet. In 2005 she was elected to the Storting in Nord-Trøndelag and sat on its finance committee . From 2008 to 2009 she was a member of the Ap parliamentary group in Storting and from 2008 to 2013 chairwoman of the Nord-Trøndelag Arbeiderparti. She was re-elected in 2009 and served on the Education, Research and Church Affairs Committee.
