Gerd Schinkel

Gerd Schinkel (* 1950 in Glückstadt an der Elbe) is a German journalist and songwriter .

Life

Gerd Schinkel came to Bonn in 1958, studied law and completed a journalistic traineeship at a newspaper in Kornwestheim . In 1982 he became news editor at the radio station of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart, in 1985 he became a political editor at the radio station of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne . Later he was a radio correspondent in what was then the federal capital of Bonn .

As a songwriter , he oriented himself from 1970 onwards to American singer-songwriters . In 1978 he became known with the LP No cause for alarm . It contained the song Special Disaster Action Plan , which was best known for its interpretation by the Saitenwind group and which was popular with the anti-nuclear movement in Germany . In the 1990s he wrote songs in the style of John Hiatt .

He later worked as a planner, moderator, commentator and musician.
