Gerd Willamowski (born January 21, 1944 in Grundensee / East Prussia ) is a German SPD politician .

Life

After studying law in Münster , Cologne and Bochum , Willamowski received his doctorate in 1978. From 1973 to 1979 he was a judge in the administrative jurisdiction of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and then from 1979 to 1985 deputy and city treasurer in Dorsten (finance and legal department). In 1985 he became city director of the city of Ahlen / Westf. elected. Willamowski held the office up to and including December 4, 1995.

From December 1995 to September 2004 Willamowski was the association director of the Ruhr Area Municipal Association (KVR). In this role, he was responsible for the modernization of the association by streamlining the administration and outsourcing subject areas to his own organizations (Ruhr Grün, Kultur Ruhr , Ruhrgebiet Tourism). He took up the idea of ​​a Ruhrstadt (which was not realized) and published the books “Ruhrstadt. The other metropolis ”,“ Ruhrstadt. Culture controversial ”and“ Ruhrstadt. Future with history ”. During his tenure, the Kultur Ruhr GmbH was founded, which organizes the Ruhr Area Festival RuhrTriennale . He was involved in the preparation of the application of the city of Essen (on behalf of the Ruhr area) as European Capital of Culture 2010 . In the course of the reorganization of the KVR into the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) on October 1st, 2004 Willamowski resigned from his position as association director of the KVR.

From 2005 he worked for the Frankfurt law firm Buse Heberer Fromm. Willamowski lives with his family in Ahlen / Westf.
