Gerhard Adam (medic)

Gerhard Adam (born March 2, 1959 ) is a German radiologist and professor at the University of Hamburg , and director of radiology at the Eppendorf University Medical Center .

Adam studied in Ghent and Cologne, where he also received his doctorate in 1985. He worked in hospitals in Cologne and Aachen. He obtained his habilitation in 1993 at RWTH Aachen University. In 1998 he became an adjunct professor in Aachen, and in 2000 he was given a full professorship in Hamburg. His research focus is on nanoparticles as contrast enhancers in magnetic resonance imaging. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters and has served on the editorial boards of several radiological and oncological journals. 2009–2011 he was chairman of the German Radiological Society . Adam is married and has two children.
