Gerhard Andrejewitsch Wolter
Gerhard Andreyevich Wolter ( Russian : Герхард Андреевич Вольтер * 5. October 1923 in the German village Kruposchin the area Zhitomir , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ; † 19th September 1998 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a German-Russian writer , journalist and author of "The Book Zone of total calm ”on the fate of the Germans in the USSR .
Life
His father and grandfather were blacksmiths. Shortly before the beginning of the Second World War , he finished high school in the city of Krasnoarmeysk, Stalino region (Donetsk) .
In autumn 1941, as a German, he was forcibly relocated with his parents, brothers and other compatriots from Ukraine to Kazakhstan in the Akmolinsk region.
In January 1942 his "trudarmist" exams began in the GULAG camps , which lasted until August 1946. Later, after the liberation, he worked as a teacher in a middle school, studying history first at the teachers' institute in Chelyabinsk , then at the college of education in Chimkent . His first newspaper publication appeared in 1959.
From that time on he combined his teaching profession with the creative activity of a writer and journalist. Until his retirement in 1989, he worked as a lecturer at the chair for philosophy at the University of the Arts in Bishkek (then Frunze) .
Since December 1995 he lived in Germany and in 1998 he worked for the newspaper “Deutscher Kanal” (Kiev).
He died on September 19, 1998 and is buried in Fulda (Germany).
