Gerhard Arndt

Gerhard Arndt (born December 15, 1890 in Zarben , † September 14, 1963 in Mannheim ) was a German farmer and politician.

Life

After attending the agricultural seminar in Eldena , he worked as an agricultural official. He was wounded during the First World War . The Army Administration East employed him in 1917 as an agricultural officer.

From 1920 Gerhard Arndt worked as a self-employed farmer. From 1923 he was a member of the executive committee of the German Peasant and Rural People's Party. For this he belonged to the Prussian Landtag and was a member of the Chamber of Agriculture for Pomerania. Since 1932 he was a member of the Hindenburg Committee. After the seizure of power , he had to resign from office.

After the Second World War he was one of the founders of the preparatory committee of the German Peasant and Rural People's Party. Arndt became a member of the CDU in 1947. With the CDU, Arndt became a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the 1st and 2nd electoral periods from April 20, 1947 to October 23, 1952. He remained in the CDU parliamentary group until July 7, 1950 and was non-attached until October 4, 1950 Member of Parliament. From October 5, 1950 to November 8, 1950 he was a member of the BHE parliamentary group, and from November 9, 1950 he joined the parliamentary group of Independents (FdU). From March 8, 1951 to September 18, 1951, he belonged to the SRP parliamentary group and from September 19, 1951 was again a non-attached member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

With the judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court of October 23, 1952 (BVerfGE 2.1 -SRP ban), the SRP party was banned as unconstitutional. All members of the SRP lost their mandates in the Bundestag and in the state parliaments as a result of Art. 21 GG. As a result, Arndt lost his mandate with the announcement of the judgment due to his connection to the SRP in the exercise of his mandate.

Gerhard Arndt was one of the representatives of the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft .
