Matthias Weghofer

Matthias Weghofer (born January 13, 1952 in Wiesen ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 1996 to 2015 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

education and profession

Weghofer was born as the son of the farmer Matthias Weghofer from Wiesen. He attended the local elementary school and the secondary school in Neudörfl . He then moved to the Wiener Neustadt Commercial Academy , where he passed his Matura in 1972. Weghofer did military service between 1972 and 1973 and has been working for an insurance company since May 15, 1973.

politics

Weghofer has been involved in the politics of Wiesens as a local councilor and board member since 1982 and was elected mayor in 1991 . From 1993 to 2010 Weghofer was district party chairman of the ÖVP- Mattersburg and from 1996 to 2015 a member of the Burgenland state parliament. Weghofer was the area spokesman for associations in the ÖVP state parliament club.
