Gerhard Bünemann

Gerhard Bünemann (born February 8, 1926 in Hamburg ; † October 21, 2015 ) was a German horticultural scientist .

Life

Bünemann studied from 1949 to 1953 at the TH Hannover . He then carried out extensive research on fruit growing on the island of Funen and in northern Italy in 1953/54 . He then graduated from Michigan State University in 1958 . After returning to the Institute for Fruit Growing and Tree Nursery in Hanover, he completed his habilitation there in 1964. He was then appointed director of the Institute for Fruit Growing at the TU Berlin .

Together with Peter Lüdders he carried out experiments on the effect of seasonally different mineral supply with apple trees in lysimeters . In 1972 he returned to Hanover, where he took over the chair from Paul Gerhard de Haas . Until his retirement in 1991, he devoted himself to various research topics.
