Gerhard Biefang

Gerhard Biefang (born in the 20th century) is a former German field handball player .

Career

Gerhard Biefang comes from the Ruhr area. Since he was interested in handball from a young age, he became a member of the handball department of the then ESV Rheinhausen , later (since 1971) OSC Rheinhausen . His achievements in the club soon justified his appointment as a player in the German national field handball team. With the national team he took part in the last fights for the world championships in field handball in 1966 . He was used twice in these games and won the world championship title with the German team in the composition: Biefang, Karl Ölschläger , Günther Wriedt , Diethard Finkelmann , Peter Hattig , Erwin Heuer , Josef Karrer , Rudolf Kirsch , Werner Knecht , Erich Kolb , Herbert Lübking , Bernd Munck , Erwin Porzner , Herbert Schmidt , Volker Schneller and Max Zwierkowski . The World Cup was held as a group tournament, according to the mode everyone against everyone .

For winning the world championship in field handball, he and the other members of the German national team received the silver laurel leaf on July 3, 1966 .
