Volker Schneller (born October 28, 1938 in Flensburg ) is a former German handball player and handball trainer .

Career

Volker Schneller played at Flensburg TB and from 1960 at TSV 1860 Ansbach with whom he became German field handball champion in 1960 and 1962 . For winning the field handball world championship in 1966 with the German national team , he was honored with the silver laurel leaf . In addition, he won the Bavarian championship as a coach with the Ansbacher Jugend.

From 1968 Volker Schneller, who is a trained printer , worked at Adidas in the field of athlete support. As a coach he won two German championship titles with the women of 1. FC Nürnberg , coached TSV 46 Nürnberg, and from 1974 led the men of TuSpo Nürnberg from the district to the Bundesliga . He was also the coach of the German women's national team in the early 1970s , which under his leadership finished eleventh at the 1973 World Cup in Yugoslavia .

After Fast was fired as coach of TuSpo Nuremberg early 1984, he went to Leverkusen and was managing director of human resources of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and coach of Leverkusen women's handball team , with whom he in 1985 , 1986 and 1987 , the German Championship and 1985 and 1987 the DHB Cup won.

In 1989, Volker Schneller fell seriously ill with the zoster virus and as a result had to go through lengthy rehabilitation . In 1995 he went into partial retirement and returned to Franconia , where he coached the youth of TS Herzogenaurach as well as CSG Erlangen , HG Erlangen and, until his dismissal at the beginning of 2004, HC Erlangen , which resulted from the merger of the two clubs .

Schneller is married and has two sons.
