Gerhard Haege
Gerhard Haege (also Gerhard Häge ; * 1928 or 1929 ; † 1970 in Spain ) was a German rower.
Gerhard Haege came from Ulm. From a young age he rowed himself in the Neptun rowing club from Constance, his discipline was the double scull . Because of his achievements, he and his teammate Thomas Schneider were soon used in national and international competitions. He celebrated his greatest successes in 1954: He was first German champion in double sculls and then won a gold medal in the same discipline at the European Championships in 1954 . He then lost to the Ratzeburg boat with Manfred Rulffs and Klaus von Fersen at the German championships in double sculls in 1955 .
For the European title, Haege and his teammate Schneider were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Theodor Heuss on September 6, 1954 .
Haege died in a traffic accident in Spain in 1970.
