The Jakarta International Velodrome ( Gelanggang Olahraga Velodrome ) is a multifunctional hall in Rawamangun , Jakarta, Indonesia . At the present in the hall Velodrome 2018 were wheel competitions of the 2018 Asian Games held.
The velodrome covers an area of 9.5 hectares. The cycling track with a length of 250 meters was designed by the Münster architects Schürmann , and the building also houses tennis courts and swimming pools. The Velodrome has 3500 seats for spectators at track cycling competitions and up to 8500 for concerts. The Velodrome can also be used for other sports such as volleyball , badminton and futsal .
The original Rawamangun Velodrome was built in 1973, was an open-air racetrack and now only met national standards. In 2011, Southeast Asian Games competitions were held there . In 2018 it was renovated and covered. The new building meets international standards and has been certified by the UCI World Cycling Association .
At the beginning of August 2018, shortly before the start of the 2018 Asian Games, a fire broke out in the Velodrome, but it did not cause any major damage, so the competitions could be held on time.
