Gerhard L. Bach

Gerhard Ludwig Bach (born June 11, 1934 in Dudenhofen ; † December 8, 2018 in Ludwigshafen ) was a German rheumatologist .

Career

Bach received his doctorate from Heidelberg University in 1960 . He moved to the United States and became a lecturer at the University of Illinois in 1967 . At the university he acquired the degree of Medical Doctor in 1969 and was appointed private lecturer and Chief Rheumatology in the same year. He was also head of the rheumatology and clinical immunology department at Cook County Hospital . In 1970 he was appointed professor at the University of Illinois and the Cook County Graduate School of Medicine. After returning to Germany, he was a private lecturer at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1973 . From 1973 to 1976 he was chief physician at the Rheumatism Center Bad Abbach, from 1977 to 1991 chief physician at the Herzoghöhe Clinic in Bayreuth and from 1991 to 1999 chief physician at the Auerbach Clinic in Bensheim.

From 1990 to 1992 he was President of the International Society for Rheumatic Therapy .

Bach died in December 2018 in a clinic in Ludwigshafen.
