Gerhard Schneider (soccer player)
Gerhard Schneider (born August 1, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
In his youth, Schneider played for TSV Güglingen, Union Böckingen and VfR Heilbronn . For the 1973/74 season he received his first licensed player contract with the lawn players, who were then playing in the Regionalliga Süd , the second highest class in Germany. For the 1974/75 season, VfR Heilbronn qualified for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . Under the two coaches Željko Čajkovski and Rudi Faßnacht , the club had to relegate to the 1st amateur league at the end of the season. After unsuccessful recovery in the following years, the lawn players qualified for the new Baden-Württemberg Oberliga in 1978 . After 299 games and 38 goals, he ended his active career in 1986.
