Gerhard Schoberth (born June 5, 1961 in Bayreuth ) is a former German professional boxer.

Amateur career

As an amateur, Gerhard Schoberth celebrated his first major success in 1983 when he won the South German Championship. This was followed by a total of twelve Bavarian championship titles and winning the German middleweight championship in 1984 and 1989 in the light heavyweight division . In 1987, 1988 and 1991 he was German runner-up. Schoberth defeated Torsten May , Sven Ottke and Dariusz Michalczewski three times in his amateur career .

Professional career

Gerhard Schoberth celebrated his professional debut on September 8, 1995 with a points win. On November 3, 1995, he won the vacant German championship in the light heavyweight division with a point win over Andreas Marks .

On March 1, 1996 he boxed against Fritz Plösser in Frankfurt and was knocked out in the 4th round. In the rematch three months later, Schoberth lost again and was hard knocked out in the 2nd round. After the defeats and the loss of his title, Schoberth resigned from boxing.

Today he works as a boxing trainer in his hometown of Bayreuth .
