Gerhard Schulte (born August 6, 1923 , † March 25, 1989 ) was a German football player and coach . Schulte, who is reported to have been a striker at Hertha BSC , coached the club in eight Bundesliga games in the 1964/65 season. The following season he was with Hertha BSC champion of the Regionalliga Berlin, a success that he was able to repeat in 1969 and 1970 with Hertha Zehlendorf . His main occupation was a bailiff .

From 1962 to 1964 and from 1968 to 1970 he coached Hertha Zehlendorf in the then second-class Berlin Regionalliga . The greatest success here were the championships of 1969 and 1970, the greatest successes in the club's history of the "little Hertha". This qualified the Zehlendorfer for the promotion round to the Bundesliga, where it was only fourth and third in the respective group of five. The most famous player of this team was probably Wolfgang Sühnholz , who became a regular in the championship team of FC Bayern in 1972.

Schulte was the assistant coach of Hertha BSC when he succeeded head coach Josef "Jupp" Schneider from the 23rd match day of the 1964/65 season on March 23, 1965 . Schneider, who had already announced his departure at the end of the season, was dismissed after a 4-6 defeat at TSV 1860 Munich , which saw the club two points behind the next non-relegation rank, 14th place, bottom of the table. Under Schulte, Hertha was one point ahead of 15th place at the end of the season, but had to be relegated due to financial irregularities. Before the final announcement of the league exclusion, Schulte and Hertha went on a private game tour through Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica in May and June.

Schulte led Hertha to the championship in the Regionalliga Berlin the following season . In the subsequent promotion round, Hertha was only third in the group of four. On August 1, 1966, Helmut "Fiffi" Kronsbein took over the coaching position at Hertha, which he was to hold until 1974.
