Gerhard Schutte

Gerhard Frederik Marinus Schutte (born May 10, 1901 , † July 17, 1978 ) was a well-known Dutch judoka .

Life

Gerhard FM Schutte completed a degree in dentistry before the Second World War . Then he settled as a dentist in Bloemendaal (North Holland).

Shortly after the Second World War, Schutte came into contact with judo; at this point he was already 46 years old. His first teacher was the judo pioneer Jaap Nauwelaerts de Agé.

In 1948 Schutte founded a judo school in Haarlem , which still exists today (Kenamju). In 1950 he founded the Dutch Amateur Judo Association (NAJA). A few years later this merged with other judo associations to form the Dutch Judo Association.

Gerhard Schutte remained active as a judo trainer into old age and held numerous courses (also in Germany). He was called "Grandpa Schutte" with respect by his students. His special interest was the ground Judo - so grab handles , joint locks and choke holds . Gerhard Schutte has also published specialist literature on this topic.

Some Bodenjudo courses with explicit reference to the techniques of old master Schutte are still held today. The judo generation "over 50" is particularly addressed.
