Gerhard Strohmaier (born September 27, 1933 - † December 28, 2008 ) was a German football player .

Like his role model Robert Schlienz before , Strohmaier came from FV Zuffenhausen to the then German cup champions VfB Stuttgart in 1954 . Already in the first year, the half-striker , who was used by coach Georg Wurzer on the left and right, played half of all games and established himself alongside VfB greats such as Schlienz, Waldner, Hinterstocker, Blessing, Bühler, Kronenbitter, Retter, Baitinger, Krauss and Liebschwager. In 1958 he had a share in the second Stuttgart DFB Cup victory, when they won the South German Cup against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and then qualified for the final through the qualifying games. In the final against Fortuna Düsseldorf on November 16 in Kassel , won 4: 3 afterwards , he was not on the pitch due to being sent off at the championship game in Nuremberg the week before.

As a result, he reached the qualification for the 1963 football Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart , with which Strohmaier ended his active career.

Gerhard Strohmaier was married and had a son and a daughter. He died after a serious illness on December 28, 2008 and was buried five days later in the cemetery where he lived in Fellbach-Schmiden .
