Gerhard Woehrl

Gerhard Wöhrl (born November 26, 1944 in Nuremberg ) is a German entrepreneur in the textile industry. Until 2017 he was the owner of the Nuremberg-based Rudolf Wöhrl AG .

Life

The former CEO of Rudolf Wöhrl AG is the oldest son of the company's founder, Rudolf Wöhrl .

After training as a banker in Nuremberg, Gerhard Wöhrl and his two years younger brother Hans Rudolf Wöhrl founded their own line of boutiques with the Carnaby shops.

At the same time, he began studying business administration at the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen and then went to INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1970. In the same year, he and his younger brother succeeded their father as managing partner of the Wöhrl company.

With the transformation of the company into a family stock corporation, the father of three withdrew from the operational business in 2002 and moved to the supervisory board. In 2004 he acquired the majority of the shares and initiated the successful realignment of the company associated with a trading up. From 2007 to April 2010 he held the position of CEO in order to coordinate the strategic and operational business and to implement the restructuring activities.

Since he withdrew from operational business in April 2010, the entrepreneur has been heavily involved in the social field as a co-founder of the WÖHRL for Kids foundation. The aim of his foundation work is to support local and national aid projects for children in the social, charitable, cultural and sporting fields. In addition, Gerhard Wöhrl held the position of honorary Belgian honorary consul for Northern Bavaria from 1975 to 2004.
