Rudolf Wöhrl (born August 1, 1913 in Karlstein OT Dettingen , † January 18, 2010 in Nuremberg ) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

Wöhrl was born into a family of railway workers. After graduating from elementary school and following the death of his father in 1923, he took on a job as a legal assistant in Aschaffenburg to support the family. In 1933 he opened a men's clothing store in Nuremberg, which he named "Zetka" (reliable clothing). As early as 1939, the company's turnover was around 500,000 Reichsmarks .

Wöhrl had to do military service in the Second World War and therefore passed the management of the company on to his first wife Berta. His shop was destroyed in a bombing in 1945. After the end of the war, he and his wife began to rebuild their company in Roth near Nuremberg. In 1949 he opened today's Wöhrl parent company at the White Tower , at that time still on an area of 60 square meters. As a result, the company expanded and became one of the industry leaders in the fashion sector in Germany. Wöhrl handed over the management of the company to his sons Hans Rudolf and Gerhard in 1970 . From 1971 to 1991 he was Vice President of the Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

In 1985 he married his second wife Mizzi.

In 2002 the company founded by Wöhrl was converted into a family company and has been trading under the name of Rudolf Wöhrl AG ever since .
