Gerhard Wiechmann

Gerhard Wiechmann (* 1958 ) is a German historian .

Wiechmann studied history and political science in Oldenburg and Costa Rica . In 2000 he was at the Faculty 3 - Social Sciences of the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg with the dissertation The Prussian-German Navy in Latin America 1866-1914. A study of German gunboat policy on Dr. phil. PhD. Since 2000 he has been a lecturer at the historical seminar there. His main research interests are military and naval history as well as film history.

He is a member of the Society for Military and Garrison History Oldenburg and the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Society for Shipping and Naval History .
