Gerhard von Entzen

Gerhard von Entzen (* in Zülpich ; † April 19, 1671 in Koblenz ) was abbot of the Premonstratensian monasteries of Sayn and Rommersdorf.

Life

Gerhard II von Entzen from Zülpich had made his profession in the Steinfeld Monastery , was then prior in the Niederehe monastery and later coadjutor in the Arnstein monastery . In 1655 he was postulated abbot in Sayn and on September 21, 1657 as abbot of Rommersdorf . The Archbishop of Trier Karl Kaspar von der Leyen entrusted him with the visit of the diocese. As Vicar General of the Order of Westphalia, Lentzen reformed several monasteries. With the help of the abbess Anna Maria von Calenberg, he put the Nieder-Ilbenstadt nunnery back in order and, together with the abbot of the Ober-Ilbenstadt men's monastery, Georg Laurentii, fended off the Electoral Mainz attempt to dissolve the nunnery. He died on April 19, 1671 in the Rommersdorfer Hof in Koblenz.
