from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerhard von Seeon was a Benedictine and the second abbot of the Seeon monastery founded in 994 by Count Palatine Aribo .

It is known because on May 6th 1012 on the birthday of the later Emperor Heinrich II and the consecration of the first Bamberg Cathedral by Johannes von Aquileja on the same day he wrote a poem about Bamberg , the "new Rome" and "Head of the world" , wrote ("Carmen Bambergense").

He also initiated the first opening of the grave of Irmgard von Chiemsee around 1004/1010 and had her head relic brought to the Seeon Abbey. Possibly it is already an elevation of the bones supported by Emperor Heinrich .
