Walter Suck

Walter Suck (born September 21, 1912 in Flensburg , † November 11, 1983 in Flensburg) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending the secondary school in Flensburg, Suck completed an engineering apprenticeship from 1929 to 1932 and then worked in this profession. In 1934 he switched to the Wehrmacht as a professional soldier , started a career in weapons technology for the Army (HTL) and took part in World War II as a soldier .

Suck worked from 1945 to 1952 as a technical employee at the Flensburger Stadtwerke. He had joined the ÖTV in 1946 and was chairman of the staff council of the Flensburger Stadtwerke from 1947 to 1952. From 1953 to 1969 he acted as managing director and chairman of ÖTV Flensburg.

Political party

Suck was a member of the South Schleswig Association . In 1958 he joined the SPD. From 1967 to 1971 he was chairman of the SPD district association Flensburg-Stadt and then its deputy chairman.

MP

Suck was a member of the Flensburg City Council from 1959 to 1969.

From 1969 to 1976 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Flensburg constituency .

From 1975 to 1977 Suck was finally a member of the European Parliament .
