Germa (Galatia)

Germa ( Greek  Γέρμα , also Γερμοκολώνεια Germokoloneia , Latin Colonia Iulia Augusta Felix Germenorum ) was an ancient and Byzantine city in the Galatian countryside near today's Babadat in Turkey.

Germa was after the provincialization of Galatia under Augustus between the years 25 and 20 BC. Established as a Roman Colonia . In Germa a road branched out from Ankyra and continued to Dorylaion or Pessinus . Germa has minted its own coins since Domitian times. In late antiquity up to the 12th century the city was the seat of a bishop; the diocese continues as the titular diocese of Germa in Galatia of the Roman Catholic Church.
