German Accelerator is a funding program for young German companies founded in 2011 by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The German Accelerator supports the most promising German startups in their international expansion in the innovation locations of San Francisco , Silicon Valley , New York , Boston and Singapore . Participation in the German Accelerator programs is free of charge. The German Accelerator has supported the companies Celonis , N26 , Scopis and Wagawin , among others .

The German Accelerator supports promising German startups in their international expansion . At the innovation locations of San Francisco , Silicon Valley , New York , Boston and Singapore , a team of experienced mentors and experts actively supports selected companies and their founders with local know-how, training and workshops as well as intensive coaching and consulting offers. In addition to free office space, program participants have direct access to a global network of partners and investors . The programs are tailored to the individual needs of the respective startups in order to help them enter the international market successfully. Since launching in 2012, more than 240 startups have completed the program and have received more than US $ 3 billion in funding to date.

Locations and team

In the US, startups can choose between locations in San Francisco , Silicon Valley , New York and Boston . The Singapore office serves as the gateway to the markets in Southeast Asia . The offices in Munich and Berlin act as an overarching control center and contact point in Germany. The German Accelerator team consists of successful entrepreneurs, investors and experts who work with great passion to turn German startups into global players.

The German Accelerator is operated by German Entrepreneurship GmbH and supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), which sees the promotion of startups as a direct investment in innovation, new jobs and economic growth. Participation in the German Accelerator programs is free of charge.

Conditions of participation

The following basic requirements apply to participate in the German Accelerator programs. The startup must:

  • be incorporated in Germany
  • have one of the following legal forms : UG, AG, GmbH or GmbH & Co. KG
  • comply with the European de minimis aid scheme

Individual evidence
