Yuka Nishida

Yuka Nishida ( Japanese 西 田 優香 , Nishida Yuka ; born December 27, 1985 ) is a former Japanese judoka who was world champion in 2010, second in the 2011 world championship and third in the 2007 world championship.

Athletic career

Yuka Nishida fought in the half-light weight, the weight class up to 52 kilograms. In 2003 she was U20 Asian champion, in 2004 she won the Junior World Championships in Budapest. In 2005 she won the Fukuoka Cup . At the 2007 World Championships, she lost early, but fought her way through to the battle for bronze in the hope round, which she won against the Brazilian Érika Miranda . At the 2008 Olympic Games , Misato Nakamura competed for Japan. At the end of 2008, the first Grand Slam tournament was held in Tokyo , with Yuka Nishida beating Nakamura in the final. In 2009 Nishida won the Grand Slam in Rio de Janeiro . At the 2010 World Championships in Tokyo, Nishida reached the final with victories against the Portuguese Joana Ramos in the quarterfinals and against the Russian Natalja Kusjutina , where she won against Misato Nakamura. Three months later, Nishida won the Tokyo Grand Slam for the second time.

In 2011 Nishida won the Asian Championships in Abu Dhabi. At the 2011 World Championships in Paris she reached the final with victories over Joana Ramos in the quarter-finals and over the Romanian Andreea Chițu in the semi-finals. As in the previous year, Nishida and Nakamura met in the final, this time Nakamura won. In 2012 Nishida won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris . Two and a half months later she won the Asian Championships in Tashkent. At the Japanese Championships in 2012 she was defeated in the final Misato Nakamura. Nakamura then represented Japan at the 2012 Olympic Games . Nishida continued her career until 2016, in 2015 she won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships.
