Misato Nakamura

Misato Nakamura ( Japanese 中 村 美 里 Nakamura Misato ; born April 28, 1989 in Hachiōji ) is a former Japanese judoka . She won two Olympic medals and was world champion three times.

Career

The 1.57 m tall Misato Nakamura won the 2003 and 2005 U20 Asian Championships. In 2006 she won a bronze medal in the extra light weight at the Asian Games in Doha . At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 Nakamura won the last sixteen of the half-light weight against the German Romy Tarangul and in the quarter-finals against the Belgian Ilse Heylen . In the semifinals she was defeated by the North Korean An Kum-ae . In the battle for a bronze medal, she defeated the South Korean Kim Kyung-ok . In 2009 she won the final against the Cuban Yanet Bermoy at the World Championships in Rotterdam . Even before the World Championships, she had won the Grand Slam tournament in Moscow, at the end of 2009 she won the Grand Slam tournament in Tokyo, at the beginning of 2010 she won the tournament in Paris and in May the one in Rio de Janeiro. At the 2010 World Championships, she lost to her compatriot Yuka Nishida in the final . Two months later she won the Asian Games in Guangzhou with a final victory over the Mongolin Mönchbaataryn Bundmaa .

At the 2011 World Championships in Paris , she defeated the North Korean An Kum-ae in the round of 16, the Russian Natalja Kusjutina in the quarter-finals and the Spanish Ana Carrascosa in the semifinals . In the final, Nakamura and Nishida, two Japanese women met, and Nakamura won her second title after 2009. The following year, Nakamura retired from the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the round of 16 against An Kum-ae.

In 2014 Nakamura won the Grand Slam tournament in Tyumen. At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon , the Japanese won the final against Gülbadam Babamyratowa from Turkmenistan. The Japanese won the team competition for three days. The following year Nakamura won the final at the World Championships in Astana against the Romanian Andreea Chițu and thus her third world title. Five days later, the Japanese also won the team competition. In her third Olympic participation in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 , Nakamura defeated Natalja Kusjutina in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals she was defeated by Kosovar Majlinda Kelmendi . In the battle for bronze, she defeated the Brazilian Érika Miranda .
