Germania Union Pforzheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SV Germania Union Pforzheim 1896 was a sports club from Pforzheim in Baden . After 1. FC Pforzheim , Germania-Union was the second oldest club in Goldstadt.

history

The club was founded as Germania Pforzheim in 1896 in the inn "Zur Schöne Aussicht" , which exclusively operated heavy athletics on the Noeller property in the outer Werner-von-Siemens-Strasse . In the area around Weiherberg, a group of young men founded the Union Pforzheim football club in May 1908 , which had a playing area at Davosplatz and lost its first game there against Viktoria Pforzheim 2: 5. In 1912, the two associations merged to form the Germania-Union , whereupon the square at the water tower was extended by lease agreements, fenced in and equipped with changing rooms. At the beginning of the First World War , four teams were active in the game. On August 2, 1920, the team joined TV Pforzheim 1834 as the football department after the place at the water tower passed into other hands. From then on they played in Bohrain in the west of Pforzheim. The neat divorce between gymnastics and football resulted in the footballers becoming independent again as SV Germania-Union . After the introduction of the Gauliga Baden , the club played partly in the second-rate district class. The game was stopped in 1940.

In 1946 the association was resumed. After the place on Bohrain became too small for the footballers due to the construction of a cinder track , the club relocated to the Eutinger Valley.

1973 followed the renewed connection to the gymnastics club, whereupon TV 1834 became the TV Germania-Union Pforzheim .

In 1974 the team rose to the 1st amateur league in North Baden , which was then the third-class substructure of the 2nd Bundesliga , and thus reached the zenith of the club's history. With only six wins from 30 games, however, they were relegated after only one year. In 1986 the soccer department split off from the gymnastics club for the second time and returned to the original name SV Germania Union . In 2010 the club merged with the Turkish SV Pforzheim in 1969 to form Germania Union 1896 Pforzheim - Turkish Sports Club 1969 , short form GU / Turkish SV Pforzheim . The first team last played in the Pforzheim district leagues, and youth work was already a thing of the past at the centenary.

Venue

The footballers originally played their games on the Brötzinger Tal GU pitch , which in 1950 held 15,000 spectators. Due to construction work for the State Garden Show in 1992, the club had to clear its venues and then played in changing public spaces.
