Gernold inflow

Gernold Zulauf (* 1958 in Alsfeld ) is a German geologist. He is Professor of Geology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Zulauf first studied geodesy in Berlin and Frankfurt with a degree in engineering in 1981 and then geology and paleontology at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main with a diploma in 1987 and a doctorate in 1990. After his habilitation in 1999, he became a professor at Friedrich-Alexander -University Erlangen-Nuremberg and 2004 professor for geology in Frankfurt. In 2005/6 he was founding director of the geosciences department.

It deals with the development of Variscides , Cadomiden and Hellenides geological structures, deformation of rock salt and associated geothermal and tectonics (he is Research Group Hessian plate edge Therme) modeling.

He was visiting professor at Istanbul University in 2009 and 2010 .

In 1998 he received the Hermann Credner Prize of the DGG . From 2000 to 2006 he was secretary of the Geological Association, in 2008 he became deputy chairman and 2011 chairman of the DGG.
