Hugo Antunes

Hugo Antunes (born June 5, 1974 in Portugal ) is a Portuguese jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass ) who lives in Belgium .

Live and act

Antunez had double bass lessons with Luís Villas Boas in Lisbon from 2000–02 , and also in workshops with Mario Rossy , Rufus Reid and Adam Lane . From 2005 he studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Frans van der Hoeven , from 2009 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels with Christophe Wallemme . He also attended festival workshops with Dave Clark and Michaël Attias . With a grant from INOV ART he did research on the improvisation music scene in Brussels. He played in the formation VELKRO (album The Future of the Past , Pling Records, 2011); In 2010 he released his debut album Roll Call with Clean Feed Records . Since 2011 Antunez has been playing in a trio with trumpeter Nate Wooley and drummer Chris Corsano and in a trio with Giovanni di Domenico and Marek Patrman, as well as with Thomas Lumley , Niklas Wandt and Carlos Zíngaro .
