Seppe Gebruers

Seppe Gebruers (born May 9, 1990 ) is a Belgian jazz and improvisation musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Gebruers played jazz standards between the ages of twelve and sixteen . Then he studied with jazz pianists such as Jef Neve , Kris Defoort and Erik Vermeulen , but also took classical lessons with Levente Kende and Heidi Hendrickx .

With the Ifa y Xango collective, of which he was co-founder, he won the Young Jazz Talent Competition 2011 in Ghent. The following year he performed with this group at Gent Jazz . Meanwhile he works in the European improvisation scene a. a. in various musical formations and projects, for example with Bambi Pang Pang (with Laurens Smet , Viktor Perdieus ), Mount Meru (with Hugo Antunes , Lander Gyselinck , Niels Van Heertum ) and in the improv collective Nest . In 2013 he presented the Duoabum Antiduo with Erik Vermeulen ; In 2016 Gebruers recorded the album The Room: Time & Space with Hugo Antunes and Paul Lovens . He also composed music for film and theater and experimented with quarter-tone pianos, where he also performed with Charlemagne Palestine .
