Gernot Watzl (born March 25, 1985 in Linz ) is an Austrian handball player .

Career

Watzl started playing handball at HC Linz through his brother Stefan Watzl . In 2001 the two brothers moved up to the first team in Upper Austria . The 1.84 meter tall backcourt player took part in the EHF Cup twice with the Linzers . Between 2009/10 and 2014/15 he played for Bregenz Handball . With the state capitals he was able to take part in the EHF Cup again in 2009/10 , 2010/11 , 2011/12 , 2013/14 , 2014/15 and in the qualification for the EHF Champions League in 2009/10 , 2010/11 . From June 2015 Watzl played for the Alpla HC Hard . Due to an injury to the Achilles tendon, Watzl was only able to play a few games in the 2015/16 season . Since the 2016/17 season, the Linz native has been a coach at Hc Hohenems in the Württemberg state league.
