Gero Jenner

Gero Jenner (* 1942 in Hamburg ) is a German-Austrian author and publicist.

Life

Jenner studied philosophy , indology and sinology in Hamburg, later in Munich, Paris and Rome. Before that, he was accepted into the “Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes”. A second degree in sociology followed in Munich and London, also with the support of the Studienstiftung. This was followed by a job at the Ecole Française d`Extrême Orient in Kyoto, Japan. He then was coordinator for South Asian research at Heidelberg University, then lecturer for German culture and language at Tohoku University Sendai, Japan. Jenner then worked as an assistant for Indology at the Free University of Berlin, where he surprisingly broke off a habilitation thesis on Patanjali's Yogasutram in order to do a linguistic thesis. This was rejected by the Commission "for formal reasons". As a result, Jenner moved to Austria, Puch near Graz, in 1982. He has been married to the sculptor Anna Jenner since 1979 and works as a freelance writer.
