Gerontius (praefectus aegypti)
Gerontius († after 365) was the Roman governor of Egypt from 361 to 362 .
Gerontius was an Armenian who apparently spent a considerable part of his life in Antioch . After his prefecture as governor of the imperial province of Egypt, he is mentioned again by Libanios in the years 364–365 when he lived in Constantinople at the imperial court , where he had some influence even without holding an official position. In 365 he intended to become related to the Egyptian Gessius by marriage. Nothing is known about his further life.
