1968 changed Bridgwood for £ 12,000 to Shrewsbury Town in the Third Division . By 1973 he played in 117 games for the third division and scored seven goals, after which higher-class football was no longer possible due to an injury.

Bridgwood ran a pub after retiring . A few days after giving up, he died of a heart attack at the age of 67 .
