Gerry Hayes

Gerry Hayes (* 1934 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German-American musician (vibraphone, drums, piano, vocals) of swing , mainstream and modern jazz .

Life

After completing his classical training in piano and drums, Hayes lived as a teenager in New York City , where he came into contact with the jazz scene. Back in Europe, he worked as a drummer in big bands that played in the US soldiers' clubs and then went to Paris , where he founded his own band in 1960. He toured Europe, North Africa and Lebanon with his own groups and played with Inge Brandenburg , Nancy Wilson and Diana Ross . He was involved in music broadcasts on radio and television and worked as an actor in the 1969 film Das Go-Go-Girl vom Blow-Up with. In 1970 Disques Vogue released the single Soulgirl (Philly Dog) / Soulcity .

Hayes has been a restaurateur in Munich since 1980 and ran jazz bars such as "Gerry's Music Corner" on Feilitzsch Platz in Schwabing, "Gerry's im Lehel" and, from 1983 (at various locations), "Allotria". He plays with his “Big Band Swing”, his “Swing Explosion” with Charly Antolini and the “Modern Swing Quartet”.
