Gert Maichel

Gert Maichel (born February 4, 1949 in Timmendorfer Strand ) is a German lawyer and industry manager.

After graduating from the Klaus Harms School in Kappeln an der Schlei , Maichel studied agricultural economics and law at the Universities of Kiel and Göttingen from 1970 to 1977 . He then completed a legal clerkship and was a research assistant at the University of Göttingen from 1979 to 1980.

After completing his doctorate, he worked in the central legal departments of BASF , Mobil Oil and Wintershall from 1981 to 1990 . From 1990 to 1993 he was General Representative and Head of Natural Gas at Wintershall. In 1993 he became management spokesman for Wingas . After moving to BASF, he became a department director and general manager there in 1998. In 1999 he was appointed CEO of VEW Aktiengesellschaft in Dortmund. After its merger with RWE AG, he became a member of the executive board of RWE AG with responsibility for the energy and environmental policy departments, as well as research and development, and chairman of the executive board of RWE Power AG. From 2001 to 2004 he was also President of the German Atomic Forum eV On February 22, 2005 Maichel resigned from his position at RWE AG. Since then he has worked as a strategic advisor to energy companies and as a freelance advisory and supervisory board member. Among other things, he is chairman of the advisory board of the consulting and corporate finance company goetzpartners, Munich.

Maichel is also a member of the board of trustees of the evangelical association ProChrist , an organizer of large evangelization events close to the YMCA .
