Gert Wanka

Gert Wanka (* 1951 in Döbeln ) is a German professor of applied mathematics .

biography

Gert Wanka studied mathematics and received his doctorate in 1979 at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg on the subject of boundary contact and approximation problems in linear elliptic differential equations of the second order . From 1980 he worked there as a research assistant and later as a senior research assistant. In 1989 he completed his habilitation on duality in scalar and vectorial control approximation problems .

Wanka holds the chair for approximation theory at the Technical University of Chemnitz .

Gert Wanka is married to the mathematics professor and CDU politician Johanna Wanka and has two children.
